- ItemMarket Related Inflationary Factors and the Purchase of Consumer Products in Nigeria(Legaltext Publishing Company Limited, 2011) Agada, Solomon AgadaInflation and social welfare have remained a twin issue in any political landscape. The correlation between them is borne out of the fact that economic products available in the market are produced based on cost inputs transmitted into the value of finished goods. When inflationary factors persist, the costs of input increase resulting in expensive products and services. A trend ofthis nature reduces the purchasing power of the consumer and invariably his or her welfare. Government policies have been observed to have far reaching effect on the catalytic effect of inflation in the economy through active monetary policies or a lack-lustre attitude towards investment both internally organized or through foreign direct investment (FDI). Environment- wide impact of inflation cannot be overemphasized, as it has a gamut of negative effects across societal values such as education, women and child labour, diseases, conflicts, riots, and other anti- social disruptions. It was also observed that a veritable paradigm of modern marketing strategy is equally abused and short lived by inflation, as persistent price rise reduces the relationship between the buyer and the seller because of the attendant risks and uncertainty in the marketplace.
- ItemSponsorship and Marketing Strategy Implications for Economic and Social Benefits(Legaltext Publishing Company Limited, 2011) Agada, Solomon AgadaThe present study attempts to examine the impact of sponsorship as a marketing promotional strategy and the implications for economic and social benefits. It was observed that sufficient literatures both in theory and practice supported the importance and benefits of sponsorship as a veritable means for executing organizational strategy and as a strong component of a proactive promotional mix. Organizations that identin) with sponsorship programmes tend to depict a personality of corporate good citizenship, responsible businesses, a domain for quality human capital, and valuable relationship dividends. It is therefore recommended that for modern organizations operating in a more dynamic world requiring people and other units be heard, seen, and known should embrace sponsorship. This will go a long way to help them in the formulation and implementation of their promotional strategies and would earn them invaluable dividends such as goodwill, awareness, good relationship with stakeholders, employee motivation at work, media coverage, achievement of product and brand related objective, satisfaction of market segmentation and other benefits. These sponsorship activities include sports, broadcast programmes, college scholarship programs, festivals, community annual events, carnivals and various contest programmme.
- ItemConjoint Analysis: A Strategic Tool for Product Research(2011) Ighomereho, SalomeDespite efforts by companies to offer products that meet customers' needs, a large percentage of them still fail. One of the reasons for product failure is negligence on the part of the company to find out what customers want and how they want it. The fulfillment of customers' needs and wants in a profitable way requires that companies understand the attributes of their product(s) that are most valued by the customers. Such information can lead to the creation of optimal value propositions. This study considered how conjoint analysis could be used to aid this process. It discussed the role of conjoint analysis in the determination of buyers' responses to a product during concept testing and test marketing and also for the modifications of existing products. It also demonstrated how Microsoft Excel could be used for conjoint analysis by companies when developing new products or when managing existing products in the face of intense competition
