- ItemEnvironental scanning and customer values of selected commercial banks:(Hallmark University Journal of Management & Social Sciences, 2019-06) Egwu, BridgetAbstract Over time, there has been a shift away from using organisational capacity as sole metric of performance. This is because of its inherent limitations of business performance is broad-based progress that primarily depends on understanding of customer values, however, further advances in the direction of customer values have led to the concept of environmental scanning. The primary objectives of this paper are to examine the relationship between environmental scanning and customer values, and the influence of environmental scanning on customer values in the selected Nigerian commercial banks. The study adopted survey research design using crosssectional administration of research instrument among selected banks with total population of 70,380 customers, and sample size of 1,490 customers calculated using Watson (2001) formula plus 30% of sample size determination as non -response rate orwrongly filled questionnaires. A structured questionnaire of six point Likert scale was used with response rate of 90.2% (1,344) Reliability and validation of items/constructs range between 0.75-0.85 as Cronbach-Alpha coefficient. Data collection was analysed using correlation and regression analysis. Findings showed that environmental scanning (ES) has a significant and positive relationship with customer values (CV) (r =.544, p<0.005), and also, environmental scanning has a significant positive influence on customer values of selected commercial banks in Lagos State Nigeria (B = .945, t= 23.724, p<0.05).The descriptive analysis indicated that ES as a process and systematic study of environment to identify needs and values for creating products and services ultimately desired by the bank customers. The study recommended that commercial banks should strategically employ technique of ES in an attempt to acquire information about organisations environment in order to apply the knowledge that would help management in its task of charting the organisational creating values and their performance, particularly
- ItemImpact of job satisfaction on the performance of non-academic staff of federal university Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE)(African Multidisciplinary Journal of Development, 2023-07) Egwu, BridgetThe study observed that variables (work-motivation strategies, job satisfaction and organizational performance) are shown in Table 2. Explicitly, promotion is positively related to job satisfaction (r = 0.661, p < .01) with a moderate effect size, as well as salary (r = 0.371, p < .01), while work atmosphere was found with low effect but positive relationship (r = 0.117, p < .01). Meanwhile, job satisfaction is positively related to organizational performance (r = 0.512, p < .01), with a moderate impact. Furthermore, the ordinary least square (OLS) regression result depicts that the motivational strategies; salary payment, promotion, and pleasant work atmosphere positively impacted job satisfaction with an adjusted R2 value of 0.515, which is positively significant at 5% (PRM; β = 0.394, t = 4.019; WA; β = 0.325, t = 3.226; SAL; β = 0.361, t = 3.251, p < 0.05). Hence the R-squared value of 0.504 depicts that the motivational strategies on job explained only 50.4 percent while unaccounted variables or components amount to 49.6 percent. In conclusion, the findings reveal that promotion, pay (salary) and working atmosphere have significant impact on job satisfaction, which tends to increase performance recorded among non-academic staff of the university. Hence, all hypotheses are supported.

- ItemThe role of cooperative societies towards the development of rural communities in Nigeria (A case study of Osun State Nigeria)(International Journal of Intellectual Discourse (IJID), 2020-12) Egwu, BridgetThe study investigated the role of cooperative societies towards the development of rural communities in Nigeria, a case study of Ife Central Local Government Area. The objective was to examine the extent of the relationship between cooperative societies and the development of rural communities. The study employed a descriptive research methodology in gathering data from respondents consisting of eighty co-operative members. The members were selected using purposive and stratified sampling techniques. A well-structured questionnaire was used as an instrument for data collection. The data gathered from the respondents were analyzed with both descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings from the study indicated that co-operative societies have no contribution to its members and the development of rural communities and its members. This suggests that, based on the findings, there is no significance relationship between cooperative societies and rural development in Ife Central Local Government Area, Osun State.
- ItemWomen Entrepreneurship and Poverty Alleviation among Low Income Families in Developing Societies:(International Journal of Religion, 2024) Egwu, BridgetThe study investigated the relationship between women entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation among low income families in developing societies, and evaluated the impact of women entrepreneurship on poverty alleviation using Nigeria as reference. A survey design was employed with a questionnaire instrument administered to 250 women who are business owners in Lagos, using a simple random sampling technique. The response data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential analytical methods. The descriptive analysis showed that women take up entrepreneurship for the purpose of supporting their spouses to fight against poverty. A multivariate Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) was used for the inferential analysis and to specify the relationships among the construct variables in the study. The bootstrapping technique of the PLS-SEM was used to estimate the parameters in the model, with the aid of the Smart-3 software. The result of the factor loadings, reliability test, convergent and discriminant validity revealed that the construct variables are fit for the PLS-SEM. The path analysis revealed that wife’s income (women entrepreneurship) has significant positive relationship with provision of health care, education, clothing and housing, and hence significantly positively impact on poverty alleviation in these areas of family needs. But in contrast, women entrepreneurship does not impact significantly on food. In general, the study concludes that women entrepreneurship is a key driver of poverty reduction among low income families in Nigeria. Therefore, it is recommended that government and other stakeholders should make deliberate efforts to promote women entrepreneurship by providing financial support and other facilities to women entrepreneurs.
