dc.description.abstractThis article shows the importance of Human Resources Development as it relates to the growth of the Insurance Industry in Nigeria. Primary data were collected through the use of a structured questionnaire from workers in Insurance companies in Nigeria. Our analysis reveals that Human Resources Development has not been made a priority amongst Insurance companies in Nigeria, hence the poor growth in the sector. We suggest that training and re-training of staff should be made a pre-requisite for staff promotion, in order to get the best from them. This will enhance the organization growth and development, resulting in an improved contribution of the Insurance sector to the nation's economy.en_US
