- ItemAnalysis of the Privatization Exercise of Power Supply Chain in South West Nigeria(Ilorin Journal of Business and Social Science, 2016-04-30) Ogundipe, OluwaseunThis study assessed the impact of privatization exercise in the power sector of the consumers in Nigeria. The study utilized the Pressure Activity State Impact Response (PASIR) network and theories of organic evolution of property rights to examine the impact of privatization on consumers. Both qualitative and quantitative techniques were used in analyzing the collected data. Focus Group Discussion was employed to analyze the effect of the reform of the power supply chain on consumers in 3 out of 11 newly constituted Distribution Companies (DISCO), these are Eko, Ikeja and Ibadan Distribution Companies. Similarly 200 respondents were purposively sampled in Mowe, a suburb of Lagos metropolis, from which 105 questionnaires were retrieved for analysis. Two hypotheses were tested in the study. The first, there is no significant difference in the flow of information, power supply and billing system between affluent and poor neighborhoods was supported by the findings (a p < .001). The second, ongoing privatization exercise has significantly improved the billing system, power supply, and information flow was also supported by the findings. The study recommends that the new managers should not place emphasis on economic factors only but also on noneconomic factors particularly information flow and equitable energy distribution
- ItemAn Empirical Investigation of the Impact of Effective Shipping Policy Instrument on the Development of the Nigeria Maritime Industry(African Journal of Economics and Sustainable Development, 2018-12-12) Ogundipe, OluwaseunThe Nigeria’s shipping sector is estimated to be capable of generating above 5trillion naira annually but the sector has been totally neglected. To make the sector effective and harness revenue from this sector, there will be an overhaul of policy, institutional, regulatory and legal framework. This study therefore, empirically investigates the impact of an effective shipping policy instrument on the development of the Maritime sector in Nigeria. Data were collated in Lagos, Nigeria through a structured questionnaires administered to stakeholders of the maritime sector in Nigeria. The method of analysis used in the study is a simple non-parametric (chi-square test) statistical method. From the method of analysis, the study found out that an effective shipping policy affect the development of the maritime sector in Nigeria. The study therefore recommends the enactment of a new national shipping policy to effectively support the Nigeria’s shipping policy dates back to 1987 when the Nigerian shipping policy act no.10 of 1987 was enacted following Nigeria ratification of the United Nations Code on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) so as to make shipping policy instruments have an impact on the development of the Maritime sector in Nigeria, which will invariably aid Nigeria economic growth.
- ItemIssues and Challenges of Cargo Handling in a Developing Economy' a Study of Tin Can Island Port, Apapa, Nigeria(Researchjournali’s Journal of Supply Chain Management, 2019-08-01) Ogundipe, OluwaseunGlobal trade agreements have fueled a positive drastic changes in cargo tonnage handled at the ports in most developing economies. Remarkably, in the case of Nigeria, the Tin Can Island Port has witnessed a significant rise in cargo, largely due to the reforms in port management in the country. In this regards, most related studies seems to be biased towards the developed economics. However, with the increasing threat of cargo spoilage and delay coupled with numerous issues relating to cargo handling at the Tin Can Island Port in Nigeria. This study seeks to examine both socio-economic and cargo handling characteristics at the Tin Can Island Port in Nigeria. The methodology involves both the qualitative and the quantitative methods. The data is analysed with descriptive and chi-square statistical analytical techniques. The study reveals that socio economic characteristics especially age of workers in cargo handling activities still influenced the capacity at the port. The study shows there is a significant relationship between perception of cargo traffic level and change in cargo handling procedure at the Tin Can Island port. In addition, it shows there is a significant relationship between policy adoption and cargo handling improvement at the port.

In this regards, most related studies seems to be biased towards the developed economics preparedness to enhance and avert possible disaster encountered at the US. However, with the increasing threat being posed on a daily basis on African international terminal especially the Nigerian airport with the rise of Boko Haram and other emerging insurgents threats. This study seeks to examine the perception of international passenger on the safety and security of the Nigerian airport terminal. The methodology involves both the qualitative and the quantitative methods. The data is analysed with descriptive and inferential statistical analytical techniques. The study reveals there is a significant relationship between airport passenger perception of safety and enhanced security level at the airport. Also the passenger nationality status also influences the level of security procedures at the Murtala Mohammed International airport
- ItemSpatio-Temporal Patterns of Air Crashes in Nigeria between 1960 and 2012(Geojournal, 2020-05-30) Ogundipe, OluwaseunAir transport is considered the safest among the modal transport options. Over the years the passenger travel by air has double necessitating stricter national and international regulatory frame work. In spite of the concerted efforts toward ensuring safety on the global scale, incidents of air crashes are still prevalent especially in the developing countries like Nigeria. The Nigerian aviation sector has suffered series of air mishaps since independence in 1960. This study seeks to examine the spatio- temporal pattern of air crashes in Nigeria. The methodology involves longitudinal research design covering over 30 years, from 1960 to 2012. These cut across many segments such as location, factor responsible for the crash, number of survivor, number of death, number of accident per year and number of carrier involved. The data is analysed with descriptive analytical techniques. The study reveals the classification of causal air crashes in Nigeria as human, mechanical, environmental and mixed themes. The study also reveals that the pattern of air crashes in Nigeria follows a cyclic pattern of occurrence over the years. - ItemTravel Behavior Characteristics in Nigeria’s Most Commercialized Urban Development: A Study of Eti-Osa Local Government, Lagos Nigeria(International Journal of Social Research, 2019-10-30) Ogundipe, OluwaseunGlobalisation has enhanced the rate of urbanisation and influenced the travel behaviour characteristics across the cities of the world. Remarkably, in the case of Nigeria, especially in the most commercialised local government area, the travel pattern seems erratic and unpredictable; problems associated with urban mobility include delay, traffic congestion, and chaotic trip pattern characteristics. In this regards, most related studies seems to be biased towards the developed economics urban metropolitan areas. Therefore this study intends to examine the travel behavior characteristics in Nigeria’s most commercialised local government area. The methodology involves both the qualitative and the quantitative methods. The data is analysed with descriptive, chi-square statistical and regression analytical techniques. The study reveals that socio-economic characteristics especially gender, and the female to be specific contributes more to the volume of trips in the study area than the men. In addition, it shows there is a significant relationship between the mode of transport and level of accessibility among the residents of policy.
