dc.description.abstractThe study examines the role of urban agriculture in empowering urban women farmers as well as meeting their practical and strategic gender needs. The study used Longwe's framework based on the five different levels of empowerment. The study revealed that the emphasis on urban agriculture is on the welfare and access level and that urban agriculture addresses more practical gender needs than strategic gender needs.en_US
