The aim of this paper is to present an empirical survey of resolving conflict between academics in the Nigerian public universities and Federal Government of Nigeria. The paper adopts the survey research with the use of primary data obtained from the use of questionnaire as the test instrument. The study population was 6800 and a sample size of 378 was drawn from the estimated population. With the use of structural equation model, the study focused on different aspects of conflict in Nigerian public universities. There appears to be very little in the area of the quality of conflict approach management in handling the range of internal and external conflicts in the Nigerian educational institutions. However, there is the fear that without this critical connection, intervention efforts will yield very minimal results. Consequently, this study concludes that the factors affecting the industrial disputes between the ASUU and the FGN have been largely propelled by historical, economic and political factors which have become institutionalized and embedded in the Nigerian polity so that the disputes will continue to be difficult to resolve. The study recommended in the light of this study that not only procedures should be revised from time to time, but also their execution needs to be monitored more seriously.en_US
