Developments in Legal Education and Access to Law Library in the 21st Century: Challenges and Prospects

Abstract

The advancement in technology has made library activities seamless for both law librarians and law library users. This advancement has increased the active participation of law students in the use of the law library, on the grounds that some of the legal materials that are needed for legal research are available online and offline. In furtherance of this, this paper discusses the essence of the law library in the development of legal education and its access to meeting the information needs of law students and law teachers. This paper examines the importance of law libraries to legal education, challenges of law libraries such as lack of funds, lack of non-professionals manning law libraries, and librarians who are not technologically inclined. It also examines the good side of technology for the library and the threat that comes with technology.
