dc.description.abstractPeople’s social identities and activities are at stake where there is insecurity. The present study presents the influence that insecurity has on the way of life of the residents of Byazhin community, Abuja, in the north-central zone of Nigeria, as reflected in their social activities. The study adopted the purposive sampling method in the selection of a sample size of 400 adults in the streets of the Bayshin community to obtain the quantitative data and 20 informants for the qualitative data. Using a questionnaire and an in-depth face-to-face interview as the research instruments, the study found and concluded that insecurity affected the agricultural activities, formal educational activities, ceremonies and social engagements, business activities, market meetings, and religious activities of the residents.
