Abstract
The library is a service organization, and capacity building is crucial in any information business because of its dynamic nature. Library education institutions have a role to play in both formal and informal training of students and practitioners in other to make them relevant. The article analysed newspaper advertisements concerning employer's expectations for library positions in Nigeria. The Guardian and Punch newspapers, 2007 and 2008 were used for the study. The study reveals that the course offered in the two library schools sampled are adequate in the area of theory, but lack well equipped ICT laboratory for teaching, research and teaming. Recommends what could be done by library schools to make students fit for practice, and support practitioners to enable them face future challenges.
