dc.description.abstractThe socio-economic characteristics are u very important factor in public transportation in the urban environment. The planning of public transport typologies needs to consider the social-characteristics of users. The urban trlps have their own components in the socio economic characteristics, whose understanding is to help achieve efficient, effective and reliable urban public transport planning. It is in this light that this study examlnes the socio-economic characteristics and a public transport typologies use In Lagos metropolltan area of Nigerla. The methodology used In this study Is self completlon aurvey method; data were collected on varlables of socioeconmic characteristics of urban trips maker, as well as, the irip pattern charecterlstlcs. The correlatlon, one sample t test was used for the hypothesls testlng, univariatee unalysls of variance (ANOVAI for uhjects inleructln effecis and stepwlse multiple regresslon analysls were lesled on the dependent and the independent variable datasets. The study revealed that soclo- economic variable as Income, educational background, and household size among others influence more the use of BRT for public transport in Lagos metropollsen_US
