Abstract
The tourist transport concept is new to the Nigeria milieu. The tourist transport is linked to externalities, the distortion of green environment, and the negative effect on the social, economic wellbeing of the country tourism development. The liveability of the Nigerian tourism industry is tied to the adoption of sustainable tourist transport strategies. More so, the increasing global attention to the environmental effects of tourist transport contributes to green house effects and global warming. In this light the development of effective and sustainable tourist transport in Nigeria would help to mitigate the environmental impacts of tourist transport in the movement of tourists both at the host and generating areas. This study examines the effective options of tourist transport sustainability in Nigeria. The paper divided into sections, which look into tourist transport and the environments, tourist transport and sustainability, and approaches to sustainable tourist transport in Nigeria The data used for this study were obtained through documentary searches. The paper offered contemporary approaches for enhancing sustainable tourist transport practices in Nigeria in the face of prevailing global environmental concerns.
