dc.description.abstract | The study examined how the global drive for energy reduction and efficient production has contributed to the achievement of Green Supply Chain (GSC) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in two major production organizations in Nigeria. The methodological approach employed the derivatives of the ontological and epistemological paradigms. For the purpose of data gathering and analysis, the phenomenological school of thought which employed the qualitative methods of in-depth interview sessions and literature were utilized. Production managers in Dangote Sugar Refinery (DSR) and Total Nigeria Plc (TN), two key manufacturing organizations in Nigeria were interviewed on their perceptions of how the adoptions of Environmental Management System (EMS) techniques and staff development activities have positively impacted on the achievement of GSC. Based on findings from this study it is suggested that the two studied firms (and by extension other manufacturing entities in Nigeria) should involve their local Supply Chain partners in the conceptualization and the implementation of their Green Supply Chain protocols, this undoubtedly will enhance the achievement of GMP and sustainable management of their operating environment | en_US |
