ICT literacy skills and use of cloud computing among librarians in private universities in South-West, Nigeria
(Journal of ICT Development, Applications and Research, 2024) Benedette Unuigboje
The library environment has witnessed a dramatic change in the last several decades. The change is as a result of the introduction of information communication technology (ICT) in teaching and learning in the academic arena. The way library services are delivered has changed dramatically as a result of the integration of information and communication technology into academic libraries' daily operations. However, this is referred to as cloud computing. The majority of library services relating to information resources, dissemination, and delivery that are currently provided by libraries are either reproduced or replicated by ICT and mostly facilitated by the internet. This study looks into how ICT literacy affects the adoption of cloud computing in South-West, Nigeria's private university libraries. In this study, the survey research design was used. 262 librarians from 35 private university libraries in South-West Nigeria make up the study's population. All 35 private university libraries' library staff members were sampled using total enumeration. To collect data, a verified structured questionnaire was employed as the instrument. The constructions' Cronbach-alpha scores varied from 0.82 to 0.96. 95.8% of respondents responded. Both descriptive and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The data were examined using SPSS version 24.0, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. The findings demonstrated that library staff in SouthWest Nigeria's utilization of cloud computing was strongly influenced by ICT literacy levels. To improve the use of cloud computing by library staff in private universities in South-West, Nigeria, the study found that ICT literacy skills indicators, particularly proficiency in using hardware, proficiency in word processing, proficiency in webbased functions, and proficiency in data processing, should be improved. The study suggested implementing the required ICT literacy programs and training to improve their staff for efficient library service delivery.

IMPACTS OF DIGITAL AND GLOBAL INFORMATION NETWORKING ENVIRONMENT ON EVOLVING ROLES OF LIBRARIANS IN SELECTED FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC LIBRARIES IN SOUTH-WEST, NIGERIA
    (IJOBCA, 2023) Benedette Unuigboje
The rapidly evolving exigencies of digital and global age are part of compelling forces for all librarians in terms of networking environment. Digital age has made the roles and responsibilities of librarians increased in terms of subscribing, knowledge sharing and managing of e-information resources and services. This study ought to ascertains the impacts of digital and global information networking environment on evolving roles of librarians, so also to identify the benefits and challenges created by networking environment. A quantitative research design with population comprising 102 librarians in selected federal polytechnic libraries across the six states in Southwest, Nigeria was used. A purposive sampling technique was adopted and a rated questionnaire of 102 was used to collect data while 98 copies of questionnaire were retrieved and the data collected were analysed using frequency count and mean values. The study revealed that the evolving roles of professional librarians in digital and global information networking environment have changed from old version as a result of digital age, and the finding also shows that digital and global information networking environment has a great impacts on evolving roles of librarians because it advances the use and usability of globally distributed network of library resources and it also allows communication with any professional colleague around the world. However, this study recommends that all librarians should acquire technical skills, IT skills, managerial skills and communication skills to work in digital environment. Moderating Influence of Firm Age on the Adoption of E-Publishing Innovations
    (Innovations, 2024-03) Benedette Unuigboje
Frequently media reports draw attention to errors in published books and other publications. Sometimes the reports emanate from libraries and schools that bicker with suppliers of flawed publications. Notwithstanding much of the noise-related research in information science literature focus on noise within and around libraries and schools; and fail to explore the breadth and depth of this phenomenon described as communication noise. This study, therefore, aims to explore the breadth and depth of communication noise by identifying, describing and classifying the various types affecting information quality with a view to finding solutions to them. This is a taxonomical study of noise types identified online and offline in information science and communication literature through document analysis. Noise types were described to be mutually exclusive and classified into audible, verbal and non-verbal noise. A total of five audible, seven verbal and eight non-verbal noise types, and 12 associated concepts are identified, described and classified. The roles of various gatekeepers at various stages were also highlighted towards theorizing on communication noise, and to aid a more detailed study of this otherwise under-researched phenomenon. This study successfully brings into the purview of information science literature noise types that were hitherto gleaned through adjoining disciplines. And by exploring the breadth and depth of communication noise and describing how they impact information content and delivery, it lays foundation for a more meaningful conversation on possible solutions

The Role of Virtual Library in Learning Environment
(Information and Knowledge Management, 2018) Benedette Unuigboje
The library environment has witnessed a dramatic change in the last several decades. The change is as a result of the introduction of information communication technology (ICT) in teaching and learning in the academic arena. Most academic libraries now move from the conventional way of information handling and delivery to more sophisticated methods where ‘access’ is more emphasized. As a result, virtual libraries have become increasingly important in the learning environment. Virtual/digital libraries play important role in providing access to a wide range of information resources across the globe. Beyond what the traditional libraries can offer, virtual libraries break the barrier of time and location to facilitate sharing of scholarly information for academic excellence, a feat which was practically impossible in the past. The introduction of virtual library provides opportunities for information users to access information across the globe without restriction. This paper looked at the role of virtual library in mediating between the individual information needs of the members of the academic community and the vast amount of globally available content. The paper concluded by stressing some current trends and open research issues in Digital Library technology.
