- ItemAgriculture, Food Security and Poverty Reduction in Nigeria: Cointegration and Granger Causality Approach(2022) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiProvision of sufficient food and elimination of abject poverty have usually been the conventional benefits of agriculture to any society. Meanwhile, despite the fact that Nigeria is an agrarian society, food insecurity and poverty have become the issues of concern among both scholars and policymakers in the recent times. Against this backdrop, this study examined the nexus among agriculture, food security and poverty reduction in Nigeria from 1990 to 2019 within the framework of Cointegration and Granger Causality approach. Data was collected from the Statistical Bulletin of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the World Development Indicators respectively. The following are the major results that emanated from the study. A long run equilibrium convergence exists among agricultural valued added, food production index and GDP per capita in Nigeria. Similarly, there is a unidirectional causality which flows from food production index to poverty reduction in Nigeria. In the same vein, one way causality flows from poverty reduction to agricultural value added in the country. Consequently, this study makes the following recommendation for the policymakers in Nigeria, and other African countries by extension, that agricultural value added and food production are the important variables that cannot be undermined when poverty reduction occupies the central focus of the policymakers. Therefore, any time these policymakers want to reduce poverty, policies that will drive agricultural value added and food production should be embarked upon.

- ItemDeveloping African Management Theories: Problems and Solutions(Covenant Journal of Business & Social Sciences, 2019) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThe paper examined the problem of developing indigenous management theories in Africa and the solutions. It employed the narrative analysis approach using the inductive analytic process. The data for the analysis were qualitative data generated from a review of the relevant literature and a survey of opinion of scholars in management studies. The paper identified two categories of the problem, viz, inherent socio-cultural problems and externally induced problems. It noted that although there is now some awareness about the need for African Indigenous management theories, and some effort has been made over the years by some African scholars to introduce African philosophies into management of organizations in Africa, these efforts have not yielded any visibly concrete result; there is yet to be any formalized African oriented management theory. The paper concluded that for African societies to make progress in industry, they must tailor their management approach according to their own needs and behavioural peculiarities. It recommended that concerted efforts must be made to overcome the challenges bedeviling the development of African indigenous management theories by committing to positive ways of thinking about African philosophies and evaluating them through research for management theories development; and re-engineering the existing paradigms of African educational systems to include local contents that would lay the foundation for research leading to development of indigenous theories. It emphasizes that theory builders must visit the African traditional cultures and harvest the positive values for the development of African theories of management.
- ItemDiversity Management and Performance: Evidence from Nigerian Multinational Companies(Journal of Economics and Business, 2020) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThis study examines the relationship between diversity management and the performance of Nigerian multinational companies. A single crosssectional design was adopted for the study and a well-structured questionnaire was administered to 318 randomly chosen senior managers from Mobil Oil, Guinness, Coca-Cola, Nestle, MTN, and Cadbury Plc within Lagos Metropolis. The research instrument was tested for validity and reliability using confirmatory factor analysis and Cronbach’s alpha. The independent variable is diversity management while performance (dependent variable) was measured with Employees' Productivity (EP), Profitability Level (PL), and Employees' Innovativeness (EINV). The data collected were analyzed using Correlation Analysis and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) factor to determine the relationship between diversity management and performance of Nigerian Multinational Companies. The results revealed a significant and positive relationship between diversity management and the performance of Nigerian multinational companies. The study concluded that diversity management motivates employees to put in their best to achieve a high level of productivity which leads to improved profitability due to employees’ innovativeness. Therefore, the study suggests that multinational companies in Lagos Metropolis should ensure proper management of diversity in the workplace.
- ItemDoes Globalization Promote Human Development in Emerging Economies? Evidence from a Panel Analysis of BRICS Countries(Economic Insights – Trends and Challenges, 2022) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThis study has provided an empirical answer to the question whether globalization promotes human development in emerging economies using the case study of BRICS countries. The study subjected the annual data between 1990 and 2019 extracted from the World Bank and UNCTAD databases to econometric analysis. It is important to stress that, in the light of the empirical analyses, the study establishes the following findings; the existence of a co-integrating linkage between globalisation and human development was confirmed in BRICS countries. In the same vein, globalization components-FDI inflows as percentage of GDP and trade openness had a positive and significant relationship with human development in BRICS countries. Moreover, both capital formation and internet users had positive and significant relationship with human development. This is strong evidence that that globalization promotes human development in BRICS countries in the long run. As a result of this finding, this study makes the following recommendations for the policymakers in BRICS countries, and by extension other emerging economies that since the economic components of globalization promote human development in these countries, any time the goal of the policymakers is the achievement of human development in the long run, promotion of policies that would facilitate FDI inflows and trade surpluses simultaneously should be of the priorities by these policymakers.

- ItemFrom Service Quality to E-Service Quality: Measurement, Dimensions and Model(Journal of Management Information and Decision Sciences, 2022) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiWith the global increase in online services, there is a paradigm shift from service quality to e-service quality. In order to sustain this strategic change, there is need to measure and evaluate the quality of e-services. Consequently, the paper seeks to determine the relevant e-service quality dimensions for e-channels. The aim is to generate a concise set of dimensions that managers can use to measure e-service quality. The paper proposed an eservice quality model comprising seven e-service quality dimensions (website appearance, ease of use, reliability, security, personalisation, fulfillment and responsiveness) and overall e-service quality. The study employed a cross- sectional research design and quantitative research approach. The data were collected via a questionnaire from 400 e-channel users in Lagos State, Nigeria. However, 318 copies of the questionnaire were found useful. The data were analysed using mean, frequency, percentages, correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that the relevant e-service quality dimensions influencing overall e-service quality are reliability, security, fulfillment, ease of use and responsiveness. These e-service quality dimensions are expected to provide information for managers to evaluate and improve their e-channel service delivery.
- ItemGlobalization and Industrial Development in Nigeria: A Curse or Cure?(Oradea Journal of Business and Economics, 2021) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThe question whether globalization and its corresponding impacts carry a blessing or curse in developing countries has been a controversial issue among both the scholars and the policymakers, against this background this study provided an empirical answer to the question whether globalisation is a curse or cure to industrial development in Nigeria between 1990 and 2019 within the framework of the Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS) and Granger causality test. Consequently, the following principal findings emerged in this study. Firstly, both FDI inflows and trade openness which depict economic globalization had a negative relationship with industrial development respectively. Though, trade openness was significant while FDI inflows showed otherwise. In the same vein, a unidirectional causality ran from manufacturing value added to FDI inflows. However, no feedback relationship existed between trade openness and manufacturing value added. Therefore, this study submits that economic globalization is a curse to industrial development in Nigeria because the wave of economic globalization contributed a significant reduction in manufacturing value added in Nigeria in the last three decades. From these findings, the current wave of economic globalization could be a cure to industrial development in Nigeria, if only the policymakers in the country embark on policies that would drive the largest proportion of the inflows of FDI in the direction of manufacturing sub sector in the country. Similarly, all hands must be on deck by all the relevant stakeholders to ensure that manufactured products in Nigeria possesses value added quality to facilitate their competitiveness in the global market.

- ItemImpact of Gender Balance Practices on Employee Performance in Selected Governmental Organisations: Nigerian Experience(Academy of Strategic Management Journal, 2022) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiPrevious studies have focused more on gender diversity at the expense of gender balance practices, and as such, researchers have failed to dedicate adequate attention to investigating the manifestations of gender balance in the Nigerian public sector. In circumstances where studies exist, there have been inconsistent results regarding the impact of gender balance or equality as it is more common in the literature on employee performance. It would not be sufficient to explain the gender balance practices in the literature without considering their practical manifestations and implications for employee performance. To this end, the study considered that gender balance practices are more important in the public sector because public organizations are more symbolic of national values. Focusing on the economic independence of men and women by studying opportunities for career progression and the role of organizational politics, empirical research is implemented to understand the effect of gender balance practice on employee performance. The study finds that organizational politics and as well as employees' perception of organizational fairness affects the performance of employees. These results imply that when gender balance practices are present, employees are more motivated regardless of gender. The study recommends that organizations should focus more on promoting gender balance practices in terms of providing employees with economic independence and also making rooms for both junior and senior-level staff to benefit from organizational politics.
- ItemIs Agriculture still a Strong Force in Employment Generation in Nigeria? An Empirical Investigation(E u r o E c o n o m i c a, 2021) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiDespite the huge potentials of agriculture and agribusiness in Nigeria, the level of unemployment remains the issue of concern in the country. Therefore, study regarding agriculture and employment creation in Nigeria requires an urgent attention. However, few efforts to provide empirical evidence to justify the above subject matter in past studies have not yielded substantial results. Against this backdrop, this study provided an empirical answer to the question whether the contribution of agriculture has generated employment in the Nigerian economy. Consequently, secondary data was utilized from 1990 to 2019 with the application of Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares technique and pairwise Granger causality in analysing the collected data. It is instructive to state that agriculture has a significant impact in employment generation in the country because a unit change in agricultural value added reduces unemployment rate by 11% in the country. However, government expenditure on agriculture has not contributed to employment generation in the country because a unit change in this expenditure leads to 0.036% rise in unemployment rate in the country. Furthermore, the results from Granger causality analysis confirmed that no feedback relationship exists between agricultural value added and unemployment rate in Nigeria. In the light of the above findings, this study makes these recommendations for the policy makers in Nigeria, and as well as its counterparts in Africa by extension as follows; generating employment in Nigeria requires that the policymakers embarks on policies that would create value addition to agricultural products in the country. Also, it is expedient that the policymakers in the country should embark on massive investment in agriculture, and as such creation of employment would be facilitated in the long run.

- ItemReinvestigating Foreign Direct Investment and Poverty Nexus: any Difference with the Nigerian Human Development?(2021) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThis study examined the relationship between FDI inflows and poverty reduction vis-à-vis Human Development Index in which majority of past studies have not fully explored in Nigeria. Data were extracted from secondary sources with application of ARDL and Bounds test technique. The major findings that came up in this study are as follows; FDI net inflows had an insignificant negative relationship with GDP per capita that measures welfare of the people in terms of the socio-economic benefits in Nigeria. Similarly, net FDI inflows had a negative but insignificant relationship with literacy rate, which measures welfare of the people in terms of educational attainment. Whereas, net FDI inflows had an insignificant positive relationship with life expectancy which measures welfare of the people in terms of health. Consequently, steaming from the principal findings that emerged in this work, the following recommendations are therefore made for the policy makers in Nigeria. When the Nigerian policy makers want to address poverty holistically in the country, the human development variables should be targeted. Also, policy measures that would stimulate FDI inflows into the country should be encouraged, and FDI inflows in the country should be utilized maximally in order to bring poverty reduction in the country in the short run.

- ItemA Study of Labour Turnover and Organisational Productivity in the Cable Industry of Nigeria Manufacturing Sector(Advances in Social Sciences Research Journal, 2018) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThe paper focused on the role of labour turnover in organisational productivity in the manufacturing sector with reference to cable industry in Lagos, Nigeria with a view to identifying causes of labour turnover and factors in productivity level; elements of organisational policies; and assess challenges confronting the variables. The study provides a framework to explain factors responsible for labour turnover with its implications on organisational productivity as it was found in the cable manufacturing sector of Nigerian economy which has not been previously investigated by scholars. A survey design was adopted, 5 cable organisations were purposively chosen through a preliminary survey of the cable organisations in the three senatorial districts of Lagos State. A sample of 420 employees was chosen from 650 employees representing 65% response rate. The administered questionnaire was designed in line 5 Likert rating scales. It was found that employees’ decision to leave and join another organisation is a constant phenomenon in the world of work which is contingent on many variables such as work design, emotional trauma, location and organisational politics emanating from organisational policies etc. and the result also showed that there is a significant relationship between labour turnover and productivity level of organisation at 0.05 level of sig. It showed that work factors, environmental factors, personal factors as well as organisational policies factors are the basic components of labour turnover with degree of influence on the organisational productivity.
- ItemYouth Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMES) Growth in Nigeria: The Moderating Role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)(International Journal of Management (IJM), 2020) Omoyele, Samuel OlufemiThe roles that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) play to the growth and development of small and medium scale (SMEs) businesses start-ups in the developed economies cannot be overemphasized, but this is not always the same with what is obtainable in developing countries like Nigeria. This study, for that reason, fills the gap by investigating the relationship between youth entrepreneurship and SMEs growth, taking cognizance of the moderating roles of ICT. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design with a descriptive research method selected to examine the relationship between study variables. Only primary data was used in the study. Primary data was sourced with the questionnaire instrument. The population of the study comprised of 15260 small and medium enterprises in south western Nigeria, as obtained from the of ice of National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). Slovin's formula was applied to obtain a sample size of 390 from the study population, while youth entrepreneurs were sampled purposively based on age. The findings revealed that ICT has a positive moderating influence on the relationship between youth entrepreneurship and SMEs growth. The study recommended among other things that the government should do more in the area of alleviating challenges faced by youths in accessing ICT devices. The Government should also invest more in infrastructure development and promulgate laws that will make network providers deliver excellent services to its subscribers.
